You start out in your house. It is recommended that you open the chest in your house. You will need the gems
Go outside and explore the town if youd like. when youre done exploring, head to the right into the first monster area
Work your way past enemies to reach the chest at the top right of the area
defeat the guards and open the chest
head back to town to spend your money
while its possible to beat the game with just the sword, the other two weapons and a health potion make it a lot easier
head back to the first monster area and go all the way to the right
this next area is INCREDIBLY difficult. the worst part is dealing with the bats on the way to the stone monster maze. The best way to do this is to use the sword or magic to deal with them and to hug the top wall. if you try to go through the middle you will die. go slow, be careful, and dont be afraid to use your potion. dont expect to make it on your first try.

once you get to the stone monster maze, go towards the middle and just clear a path one at a time. go through the door on the right and prepare for the boss
the boss guards the end of the game and killing him will cure the town of its curse. he is sleeping so you have time to prepare a strategy. there are three strategies to killing the boss effectively. one with each weapon.

if you have the sword, get up close to him and just keep attacking him and try to pick up as many hearts as you can from the dying bats.

If you have the wand use the same strategy as the sword. Just get as close as you can and keep hitting him, killing bats, and picking up hearts.

If you have the bow, wake him up by only hitting him ONCE. then run to the left wall and bait him into following you. once he comes toward you, run past him and stand in the corridor. then keep firing at him from the corridor until he dies. he will not be able to hurt you here.

when you defeat the boss, go through the door. you will be transported back to the town and talk to npcs that will congratulate you on your victory. when you are satisfied, go through the door to the right to reach the ending screen

week 5 post

I gave the boss black particles that emanate off of him at all times. This makes him look really ominous and cool
I have not yet retextured the boss or ay of the monsters but i plan on doing so before i finish the game
The boss spawns three bats every time he is hit. these bats have only one health and will always spawn a heart. this adds strategy to the boss fight because if you are able to kill bats fast enough while also hitting the boss, your health gain will offset the damage of the bats and boss

week 4 post

I added a second monster area that is more then twice the size of the original. The area is split up into four segments. the first segment is just a few easy blobs. then is a segment of bats. the bats are incredibly pesky and easy to die to if you are not careful.
the third section is a gigantic maze of stone monsters that is impossible to traverse without waking up at least three of them.

the last section is a few bats and a lone stone monster guarding the door to the boss area.

The boss is a giant stonemonster who is asleep guarding the exit. I did not give him any special attributes yet

week 3 post

This week I changed the title to "The Adventures of Ronaldo McDonaldo
I also changed the dialogue of every character. Some were changed for flavor and theme purposes while others were changed to progress the story. I also created the story. The town has been cursed and you must destroy the heart of the evil to cure the town.

Week 2 Post

I recolored the house to be more McDonaldsy. I chose to use red with yellow highlights to match the player colors.

I also changed some of the color scheme on the house interior to match with the other colors of the house.

I retextured the bow to shoot chicken nuggets that wobble around and stick to the walls.

Week one RPG demo response

One of the biggest things that annoyed me was the slow dialogue. The dialogue is presented by the old slow typing way reminiscent of older games, but there is nothing you can do to speed up the speech without exiting the dialogue entirely. In many games with similar dialogue mechanics, you can press a button to skip the typing animation and complete the full text immediately. Anyone who reads faster than a 10 year old would probably find this dialogue mechanic getting on their nerves after mere minutes of play time. Imagine if there was an actual story in this game that required exposition. It also seems like the creation of differing weapons is very limited. In the demo we see one very unwieldy melee weapon and two ranged weapons. the ranged weapons are basically the same thing except one does more damage. If they had more ways to creatively vary weapon design, they would have showcased that in the demo with some kind of interesting weapon.
